happy mother's day card

It was Mother's Day last Sunday and I never got to show you the card I made for my momma dukes! Last year I went a little crazy and made a huge 6"x12" scenic card. I still went for the nature route this year but added a little more elegance to the card.

I found beautiful pattern paper covered in yellow flowers with glitter designs in different sizes. I cut the flowers and arranged it on top of stamped flowers, punched borders and a perfect pearl sprayed dollie.

At the bottom I added the stamped sentiment with punched butterflies on each side. I only adhered one wing of the butterflies so that the other wing could bend and have a 3D-like appearance.

For extra sparkle, I added rhinestones and glitter stickles on the flowers and butterflies. Under the sentiment, you can see a strip a ribbon and washi tape for more detail.

TODAY: I'm taking my mom back to the doctor's office. She had a kidney stone and was in pain all week long. I'm so happy it's finally out of her body and now she can rest. Honestly seeing her in that much pain (she says it's worse than child birth!) just made me think how I have to take better care of my body. So it's back to the workout and eating right regime for me. We're making a pit stop to the temple before the doctor's. I haven't been to one in about a year (yikes!) so it's time I paid my visit and pray for all the blessings I've been given in life.

1] When it comes to blogging I tend to be a slow writer, mostly because I'm always all over the place. Marie Forleo has come up with 8 secrets to write better and quicker content (my favorite out of the 8 being to plan it out - obvious no?).

2] Never thought to add almonds to a fish dish before but this recipe makes it look super easy and super delicious!

3] Please don't lose your job over these embarrassing 10 mistakes using Facebook and Twitter. Think before you type & my personal favorite mantra: If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all.

4] This self-care night post sounds like something everyone should do at least once every two weeks (or once a week if you're lucky).

5] Look how beautiful this card from Jennifer McGuire is. I love the idea of opening the card to see the personal message when it's flipped.

6] I always complain how I don't have 'time' yet I read how you could do 21 things in just 5 minutes. Now I feel more lazy and foolish than ever before!

7] I haven't been this excited for a new TV show since.. honestly, I can't remember. I'll miss Kelly on The Office but glad Mindy Kaling is moving on up in Hollywood.

8] I'm such a hoarder when it comes to nail polish colors but I'll only need to buy clear nail polish now that I know how to make my own colors!!!

9] Consider yourself an introvert and have trouble networking? Well it is possible to network and Sarah Von writes how.

10] If I didn't care about pain or having foreign objects embedded in my skin then yes, I would also implant magnets to my arm to hold an iPod like this New Jersey man.

11] Turning your dreams into reality can be one of the hardest struggles in life but having an amazing support system like how this husband has shown (this is what love is about!), is what I hope I get to have one day.

quickie update

TODAY: It's been a very stressful week. My mom is sick so I've been going over my parents' place to check up on her and make sure everything is ok. Hopefully she gets well real soon and everything will be back to normal. I did manage to get in some downtime with sibs and childhood bestie, chilling in my lavendar painted (old) bedroom. It reminds me of the good old high school days, still crazy and lazy as before. And my mom still has that embarassing nerdy photo of me from 6th grading hanging up on the wall. The frizzy short hair, the glasses, the ungroomed eyebrows.. haha not much has changed except for my eyebrows. Hmm maybe I should post a photo of old Vee here?
