I'd like to introduce to you my new little friend. Everyone, meet [mini] Danbo. He's been with me for about a month now & I couldn't be any happier!
A little background story: Danbo is a character from the manga Yotsuba&! - It's a robot costume wore by a girl who pretends to act 'real' to the main character of the series Azuma. I notice photos of the toy going around in Flickr. What I loved the most is how people would create amazing & unique scenarios featuring this little guy [you really have to check it out here before you think I'm crazy]. Immediately I fell in love & added the toy to my wish list. Finally I decided enough is enough & ordered mine through Ebay [it's sold out everywhere!].
I decided to get the mini-Danbo rather than the regular sized one because I wanted to take him with me wherever I go. Since the mini version is only about 2 inches tall [as compared to the regular 5" Danbo], I could easily store him in my bag.
The packaging the mini-Danbo came in is simple but the small details make it amazing. The box & toy is made out to look like the Japanese Amazon packaging & the same logos/bar codes are printed on both the box & toy.
I've already started thinking of my own creative ways to capture photographic memories of him. Rather than jump in & claim I'll take a photo everyday (which has never worked for me), I decided to start out by making monthly desktop wallpapers featuring mini-Danbo [already created my very first one for the month of April!]. Eventually the goal is to make a mini-album out of the photos I take & hopefully buy one (or two) more Danbos [a regular size possibly] to create a little family.
NOTE: I know Danbo is actually a girl but I like to name my things based on the male gender. I don't know why but everything from my car to this toy is a male in my life. So from now on, my mini-Danbo will be a boy `=]
Sigh, isn't he soo cute?!?! He's like my little pet except I don't need to constantly care for him & I won't be considered irresponsible if I leave him alone for a couple of days with no food or water.
It's like I'm 7 years old again because I'm obsessed with collectible toys now. Next on my wish list? Hot Toys Iron Man 2 Mark IV. It's so beautiful [& expensive]..
