Mini-Card Monday: Happy Thanksgiving ft Leafy Feathered Turkey

We're still a little over 2 weeks away in celebrating Thanksgiving Day here in the U.S. but I'm already daydreaming about roasted turkey, creamy mashed potatoes, and sweet corn, among other delicious sides. Luckily for me, I'll be heading over to an early Thanksgiving potluck dinner this weekend so I'll get my fix in soon. Until then I'll put my thoughts of food onto paper, or rather to this week's mini-card.

Because I had no turkey stamps, I decided to make my own version of a turkey - just how we did back in elementary school! I adhered two punched circles together & created the face by hand drawing the beak & snood while using black pearls as eyes. The 'feathers' were made using stamped leaves in different colors of pattern paper from the Basic Grey collection - Green at Heart.

Cutting each leaf one by one was no easy task but it was all worth it for this end result. The last finishing touches were to add glitter glue to the leaves & glossy accents on the beak & snood.

The turkey is dimensionally adhered on top of a green flocked pattern paper with punched edges. To connect the whole leaves theme, I stamped top & bottom borders to the card and colored in the leaves with glitter pen.

Inside the card, I added a 'happy THANKSGIVING' stamped sentiment along with the same border stamp I used on the front of the card.

Mini-Card Monday: I'm Thankful For...

Happy Halloween everyone! I wanted to post another Halloween themed card but by the time a lucky winner gets the giveaway, Halloween will be over. So I'm continuing my obsession with fall leaves & have moved on to the next holiday, Thanksgiving Day! For this week's mini-card, I combined both the season & holiday to create a very scenic & thankful mini-card. Enjoy!

I used a soft blue colored cardstock as the base of the 3"x 3" mini-card. I inked up the entire front side of the card with distress ink to give the skies a darker blue appearance. Using green pattern paper, I cutted, pasted, & distressed two hills, one on top of another. Then I stamped the trees onto the card once in brown ink & stamped again onto green cardstock & cut out the top portions of the trees to dimensional adhered it on top of the original stamp.

The leaves are randomly stamped in four different colors: brown, dark red, green, & orange. I wanted to create the effect of falling leaves so I stamped the leaves on both the trees & on the hills.

The label was made by outlining a gift card onto pattern paper, which I then cut in half & distressed it with red ink. I stamped the sentiment in the middle & added more fall leaves on the top & bottom of the label. The label is also dimensional adhered to the upper right corner of the mini-card.

I left the inside of the card blank so that a personal message could be written in. With cards like these, I love sending out pre-holiday cards to show loved ones how much I appreciate them for supporting me throughout the years.

Mini-Card Monday: Hi, Hello Fall

It's finally beginning to feel like autumn. One of my favorite things to do this season is to sit outside on the bench (have one on my front porch) & sip on hot coffee while making mental notes on the next thing off my to-do list. For some reason watching the leaves change color & seeing it carried off by the wind feels relaxing. And so I'm welcoming the Fall weather with this week's inspired mini-card.

The mini-card is made up of cream cardstock, measuring at 3" x 3". The main focus of the card was to use three clear leaf stamps from Studio G (Hampton Art). I stamped all over the front of the card, making sure none of them overlapped - almost like making my own version of a pattern paper. I also punched out a 1" square on the bottom right corner of the card to place a sentiment on it.

The three colored leaves are punched & stamped on a pale blue pattern paper. I colored each leaf in with Copic markers then dimensional adhered it onto the card. Both the card & colored leaves have their borders inked with dark purple stamp ink.

I used both stamp & ribbon to create the sentiment. I love using ribbons with printed words to create a message without having the need to find the 'perfect' stamp. So when I saw this American Crafts ribbon with 'fall' written all across the white ribbon in multiple colors & fonts, I just had to add it to the mini-card.

Because 'fall' is shown twice, I decided to add double hi's/hello's to match the flow of the sentiment. The ribbon is adhered to the back of the front side so when the card is standing up, you can still see the ribbon sentiment along with the colored leaves.

The 'hi, hello' part of the sentiment was written & stamped inside the card. Also, I didn't want the inside to look empty so I stamped the same 3 leaves all around the card. I added the same pale blue pattern paper in the middle for anyone who wants to write a cute message.

Mini-Card Monday: Trick or Treat Bag with Candy Sequins

I still have 21 days until Halloween yet I've already started buying candy for the trick o' treaters! I'm a peanut lover, so out of all the candy to choose from, my favorite has to be the Snickers mini bars. It's been my little dessert for the past week & I'm not sure I'll have any left for the kids by the time October 31st comes around. I decided to channel my cravings for candy into this week's mini-card. Check out how I made the card & information about this week's giveaway below!

As the base of the card, I chose white cardstock measuring at 3"x3". I taped a piece of kraft pattern paper in the middle & then punched a circle in the center so that the inside was exposed. The kraft only had black print on it so I used orange Copic markers to add some color.

I wanted the main focus of the card to be a clear 'trick or treat' pumpkin bag stamp from Inkadinkadoo. I came up with an idea of using those sequin pieces as candy. I took a bunch of assorted pieces & layered each on top of one another using a lot of glue dots. And to make it look like a stuffed pumpkin bag filled with sugar goodies, I had to reink, color, & cut another pumpkin & put dimensional adhesives on top of the original one.

I stamped & colored in the 'TRICK OR TREAT' banner & adhered it to the bottom portion of the card. I tried to blend in the dark & light orange Copic markers for both the pumpkin & banner as best as I could. Finally, I added touches to the edges of the card with distress ink & a pigma micron pen.

Mini-Card Monday: Spider's Happy Halloween

Halloween is four weeks away & although I don't dress up & celebrate it much, I can still get into the festivities by making halloween themed cards. This week I was able to head to A.C. Moore & pick up a spider mini-puncher from Studio G for only a buck! From there, I came up with this quick mini-card that's small enough to give away along with some chocolate goodies.

The card base is of kraft cardstock & it measures at 2.5"x2.5". I started out first by creating detailed unusual looking spider webs. To make it, I used two doily stamps from a Martha Stewart Crafts stamp collection. I gave it a more web-like appearance by tracing & following some of the doily lines using a white gel pen. Once the gel ink dried, I punched out spiders using black cardstock & glued them randomly onto the webs.

The sentiment was made by heat embossing the clear 'HAPPY HALLOWEEN' stamp with white embossing powder on kraft cardstock. I then cut the outline of the banner & adhered it to the center of the card using dimensional adhesives. I also applied some Ranger Distress Ink in Antique Linen on the banner to make it stand out from the kraft base.

Just so the inside didn't look bare, I added corner webs with a spider on each. And to complete the whole look, I took Ranger's Glossy Accents & added a drop or two onto each spider. It creates shine & dimension to the black cardstock.
